The Stupid Fight At The Gas Station

I love my girlfriend, Katie, I’d do anything for her. When she called and told me she had tickets for a book reading, I wasn’t exactly over the moon excited, but I said I’d go with her to expand my intellectual horizons. They seriously needed expanding.

The book that was being featured was ‘’Twenty Twenty One, Compassion and Empathy.’’ The Author, Charlotte Bienves would be doing a book signing, a reading, and hosting a question and answer period.

When I asked Katie why she wanted to attend the event, she told me it was all about Charlotte. ‘’My Psychology Professor used to quote Charlotte Bienves all the time. He used to say she was one of the most profound thinkers of our time. I thought it would be very cool to meet her in person.’’

We arrived at the Primrose Club ten minutes early and we were escorted into the reading room. There were six other people. Katie lined up and bought a book. She introduced herself and told Charlotte about her legendary status. Charlotte blushed and thanked her profusely.

Charlotte read in a monotone voice that I found very boring but Katie loved every word. I had to battle to keep my eyes open. When Charlotte finished there was a smattering of applause. There weren’t a lot of questions and after the Host presented Ms. Benives with a bouquet of flowers we left.
