Harry Gold loved working on his boat. It was one of his favourite things to do. He had a high pressure job as a young lawyer at a Bay Street law firm. He worked crazy hours and when he had time to get away from the firm (Williams, Ferguson, Butler and Associates) his boat offered a great escape. He was proud that he was becoming a marine expert.
Toronto only had four months of good boating weather, so Harry tried to take advantage of any day that let him go boating. He never went out without Jimmy Buffett music playing loudly over his speakers.
One of Harry’s best friends was Frankie Shodsker. He really liked Frankie and his wife Lisa. They would go for dinner (Harry was single, so he’d take different women at different times) and Lisa would always give him her opinion of his dates.
Frankie was a Dentist and on a Wednesday called Harry to see if he wanted to meet for drinks after work. Harry said he had a deal to finish off, so they arranged to get together the following evening at the Bar at the Shangri- La Hotel.
