Growing up in a small town, Bernie Cohen thought that ‘’Franklin’’ was the greatest rapper he had ever heard. Franklin had been born and raised in Toronto and had a Jewish mother and a Black non-Jewish father.

When he was a child Franklin’s Father left the scene and he was raised by his Mother and Grandmother. He was especially close with his Bubbie. He grew up and went to a High School that had a large Jewish population.

Franklin was busy acting in Films and guest starring in Television shows when his Rapping career caught fire. Under the tutelage of some of the biggest rap stars in North America, Franklin became a success and reached unbelievable celebrity status.

He acknowledged his Judaism by creating a Bar Mitzvah video that poked fun at the whole Jewish boy coming of age story. That was the extent of his acknowledging that he was born a Jew.

Over the years Franklin’s success grew and when he was attacked by another Rapper publicly for being different (one could read into that Jewish) Franklin didn’t stand proud about who he was but the Jewish community rallied around him. Demanding the other Rapper be ostracized for his not so blatant anti-semitism.

Then October 7th happened. Jews going to a music featival were massacred. One would think…
