Running a publishing company was not easy in the world of digital. Jeff Mendelsohn was lucky as he loved literature, and he made a living. The thing was he couldn’t do it without his trusted assistant Lisa Mandell.
He had cut Lisa into a profit sharing plan. He made a deal that anything they published that was turned into a broadcast property would see her getting fifty percent of the sale.
They had sold the licensing rights to ‘’Gumbo The Gator’’ for an animated series and after the writer received her cut, the other forty percent was split between Jeff and Lisa. She had been extremely happy and pleased.
One morning at United Bakery Restaurant they met with an author of a newly written book called ‘’Neurons and Neurotics.’’ It was funny and well researched and they wanted to publish it. Jeff had done a great dance and Lisa had listed reasons why the author would feel comfortable with Emunah Publishers as her home. The Author promised to give a decision that afternoon and she left to consider her options.
